The Brooklyn restaurant has transformed into a relief center for those in the industry affected by the pandemic by offering free meals and necessities such as toiletries and pantry items. Since feeding 600 local hospital workers and 3,000 restaurant and hospitality workers, Gertie is now partnering with City Harvest, Rethink Food, and Hospitality Workers United to continue providing meals. Family Meal is an initiative driven by design agency Decade NY, to fundraise for New York restaurants and their employees. They're sharing recipes from local restaurants, illustrated by designers and artists. Recipes are available for download for a suggested donation on their site: familymeal.recipes. Favorites include recipes from Win Son and Popina.
